Introduction

At Cambridge Consultants, we use artificial intelligence, machine learning and advanced analytics to help our clients deliver world-changing innovation. We are looking for enthusiastic AI Engineers to be part of our project teams solving challenging problems using Deep Learning & Machine Learning methods.

Role description

As an AI Engineer at Cambridge Consultants, you’ll be putting AI to use solving real world problems across many of the markets we work in. This could be in areas as diverse as improving medical imaging, optimising communications networks, or adding intelligent features to consumer devices. As a consultancy business, our projects typically range from weeks to months in length. You are likely to experience a wide variety of work with different clients, learning new algorithms and techniques applicable to each unique problem and working on different systems and products.

You may be working as part of a large project team, often alongside domain experts from other disciplines – from mechanical to software engineering, from physics to biology and more. On smaller projects, you may have the opportunity to be the lead AI engineer or technical expert (with mentoring available if you are new to this type of role). Our projects can range from small, fast-paced studies to large multidisciplinary developments of 50+ engineers.

You will need to take responsibility for producing high quality work on tasks such as analysing and processing data, implementing machine and deep learning algorithms, or training and testing models. You should have excellent teamworking skills, and be able to share ideas and help shape the ways in which we deliver projects for our clients.

You could be a good fit for this role if you are looking to take the next step in your career.  You may be starting to develop your team leading skills or be reviewing other engineers’ work.  You might be taking increasing responsibility for understanding requirements and creating the technical solutions to meet them. You could be looking for more opportunities to meet clients and explain how AI can solve their problems.

Cambridge Consultants invests in its people, and we aim to provide a supportive environment where you can develop your career through training and mentoring alongside the experience gained working on client projects. Aside from project work, we have many in-house interest groups to share ideas and learn from. You’ll also have the opportunity to propose and develop your own ideas through our Early Investment Program.

Responsibilities

  • Exploration and processing  of data, building pre-processing pipelines
  • Research and software development for the design, implementation and deployment of Machine Learning systems
  • Providing technical input to project proposals
  • Interpreting research to help non-experts understand the uses and benefits

Requirements

  • A solid understanding of Machine Learning concepts and managing data sets
  • Experience developing Deep Learning models in one or more areas (such as vision, signal processing, natural language processing or reinforcement learning)
  • Proficiency in software development for AI systems, for example, using Python and AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or JAX
