Cambridge Consultants is seeking a talented and motivated Platform Engineer to join our team.  

As a Platform Engineer, you'll play a critical role in driving innovation, reducing time to value, and shaping our ways of working to deliver cutting-edge platforms that enable our clients to innovate at speed. We're looking for a thought-leader who can bring expertise in platform engineering technologies to create self-service platforms with a low-friction developer experience.

You'll work closely with project teams to tailor the platform to meet their specific needs, creating platform-specific tools, interfaces, and automations to set the standard for what “good” looks like. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software platforms for both our internal project and client project team, enabling innovation at speed through a low-friction developer experience.
  • Work with project teams and clients to understand requirements, tailoring the platform to meet their needs, enabling successful project delivery.
  • Engage with engineering teams to help shape the ongoing development of the platform, ensuring that we are prioritising high-impact outcomes for our project teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers.
  • Thought leadership, developing best practices and ways of working (e.g. DevSecOps).

Requirements

  • Proven experience in building and maintaining cloud-based platforms with AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages, such as Python, Typescript, or Golang, with a focus on developing platform-specific tools, interfaces, and automations.
  • Experience with containerisation and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience with GitLab, or alternative CI/ CD Systems, Testing and Artifact Management tools.
  • Strong knowledge of DevSecOps practices and ways of working.

Desirable

  • Experience with serverless technologies (e.g., Lambda, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, EventBridge).
  • Experience of Infrastructure as actual Code (IaaC) tools such as AWS CDK or Pulumi.
  • Experience in a consulting / fee-for-service business, working on client projects.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to define and deliver projects.
