We are looking for a Team Lead to join the Department, helping us shape and deliver on this mission, managing a cross-discipline team, and working on a variety of ground-breaking projects.
Role Description
As a Team Lead, your time will be split across leading a multi-discipline software engineering team within the department (5-10 people), and hands-on client or internal project work. You will be expected to provide technical input, reviews and thought leadership on projects – you should be able to ‘step back and see the big picture,’ our projects often involve an array of technologies and capabilities that need cohesion to ensure success. Your work will be varied and diverse. Every project is different, as we work to solve highly innovative, complex problems - ultimately helping our clients to realise their ambitions.
This role is client-facing: you will meet with clients through your project work, as well as supporting the sales process – representing the departments capabilities and supporting our commercial teams in bids/ pre-sales activities.
Requirements
You will need experience in:
- Managing a team of software engineers or mentoring and coaching junior team members.
- Designing, building, and maintaining cloud-native digital software products and services – you should be comfortable writing and reviewing production-grade code, ensuring we deliver on quality expectations.
- Agile methodologies/ ways of working – advocating for fast feedback, inspect/ adapt cycles that can drive collaborative engagements with our clients.
- Nurturing DevSecOps methodologies, practices, and processes, across in software engineering.
- Developing ‘craftsmanship’/ what ‘good’ looks like for a given discipline, such as Platform/ Cloud Engineering, UI (Mobile/ Web) Engineering, API Engineering, or Solution Architecture.
- Delivering effective presentations/ communication.
You will need to develop a network that spans departments, divisions, and geographies. Excellent communication and collaboration skills will be key to success in this role. You’ll need to be a self-starting problem-solver, with a passion for delivering high-value work, reflective of our company values.
If you bring experience in developing team, technology and/ or tooling strategies and roadmaps, this would be highly valued, but is not essential to your application.
