We are looking for an electronics engineer, specialised in control systems, to work within our Medical Technology division. What you will be doing!

A senior electronics engineer at Cambridge Consultants will be expected to work on a wide range of projects as part of diverse project teams. You will join the MedTech Electronics Engineering Group which contains a broad range of analogue and digital electronics engineers along with RF specialists and antenna designers.

  • Support the scoping of new projects by understanding client requirements and identifying technical challenges
  • Participate in the development of system architectures and detailed designs in collaboration with engineers from other disciplines
  • Contribute to or lead the control systems area on projects (derive models of physical systems either from first principles or empirically, select control system architectures, design/simulate controllers (using Matlab, Simulink and/or Python) and verify performance experimentally.
  • Perform simulations and produce detailed analogue, digital, and mixed signal circuit designs
  • Develop schematics and PCB layouts
  • Support the architecture, implementation, and testing of embedded software or HDL code
  • Support the project team to produce and implement test plans to evaluate technologies and verify product functionality against requirements

What you can bring!

  • Degree (undergrad or postgrad) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, with a specialisation in Control Systems, or equivalent academic qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience in designing and implementing controllers for a range of problems like tracking/regulation, motor control, thermal control problems, etc…
  • Experience in designing and implementing estimators for a range of problems
  • Knowledge of Matlab, Simulink or Python for system modelling, processing test results and test and measurement automation
  • Experience with EDA tools, such as Altium Designer and SPICE

The following are not essential but would be advantageous:

  • Experience in implementing control algorithms on embedded targets under appropriate real-time constraints
  • Experience in using dSpace or other Hardware-in-the-loop tools
  • Experience with Medical device development and associated standards (ISO13485, ISO14971, or IEC60601)
  • Experience in design of complex surgical systems (e.g. robotics platforms, hyperspectral imaging, ultrasound, diagnostics or machine learning)
  • Technical knowledge of one or more of the following: advanced algorithm design, kinematics and motion planning, computer vision, advanced imaging, surgical navigation
  • Experience with RF technologies and circuit designs from 400 MHz to 6 GHz
