Cambridge Consultants is expanding a world class team that deliver cutting edge digital service applications that live in the cloud. Our team are building extensible and scalable web services using the latest technologies.

You would be a part of this team and part of the wider Test Group that delivers a vast range of testing expertise across many projects. Drawing on your software testing experience, you will support the Lead Test Engineer to fulfil the Test Strategy and Test Plans for projects with major clients, building in quality early, and testing at all levels. You will use test techniques from ISTQB, Agile Testing and Formal Methods to exercise software and find bugs.

 

The role

The role will involve the following:

* Designing test cases or designing charters and performing exploratory testing with an excellent eye for detail
* Applying testing skills to analysing requirements as well as software
* Developing automated tests which includes integration tests and those exercising Graphical User Interfaces
* Excellent written communication skills
* Non-functional testing which includes Security testing and Performance testing
* Working in flexible working environments like Agile Scrum or Lean software development
* Mentoring colleagues as to the best approaches to take with testing

Every Cambridge Consultants project is different, and so we will vary the approach accordingly. This will require you to be flexible in your testing approach and be willing to adapt based on feedback from a variety of sources but most commonly the client. We also use a variety of technology stacks which will mean learning new things is key to the success of any project and will require you to learn quickly.

Recent projects have involved Google Cloud & AWS; Kubernetes; Python, Go, and NodeJS; Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana. A typical project involves building and testing the entire ecosystem of an IOT device – physical, device software, cloud backend, and web and mobile frontends.

We would expect you to have experience with some of the following:

* Programming languages and their testing frameworks
* Automated and manual testing of cloud applications
* Automated and manual testing of mobile applications
* Automated and manual testing of web based user interfaces
* Designing tests for a microservices architecture
* Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Deployment

You’ll get to work with multi-disciplinary teams of software engineers, front-end developers, user experience and service designers, mathematicians, test engineers and DevOps engineers. Cooperative and collaborative working with all members within the team is essential to rapidly deliver solutions to our clients.

The team is working with clients from around the globe to deliver novel solutions to the everyday needs of individuals and businesses alike. You’ll get to work with our clients to understand and realise their requirements and deliver truly exciting new applications.
