Physical Chemistry is a new area for our Medical technology division. We are looking for someone to support and grow this new area, internally developing skills and capabilities, supporting project sales and delivering cutting edge projects.

 

Introduction summary
We are a team of highly talented, multi-disciplinary engineers and scientists working on significant medical/ life science development projects.  These increasingly require Physical Chemistry, and this role is key to developing this skill set further

 

Role description (including specific responsibilities)

This is a wide-ranging role sitting within our Analytical Technologies group.  As a new discipline, the role is broad, with some more strategic development aspects, through to practical lab support as we develop our capability.  Some of the general areas the role includes are:

  • Support the development of skills and facilities
  • Direct client contact as part of programme sales and delivery
  • Support knowledge growth in physical chemistry into the broader engineering, science and business development roles.
  • Discipline lead on larger programmes
  • Both practical and desk-based work in a wide range of projects

Depending on your specific skills, there is a wide range of development programmes in which you could be involved.  We work on cutting edge diagnostic devices, life science equipment, novel sensing technologies (including electrochemical sensors), and other medical devices, wearables and novel manufacturing technologies.

 

Requirements

  • A strong academic background
  • Good first degree in Chemistry (or similar)
  • PhD in Physical Chemistry (or similar)
  • Experience in Industry, ideally in life sciences or diagnostics
  • A team player with good communication skills, a significant part of your role will be interacting with clients and multi-disciplinary project teams consisting of scientists, engineers and designers.
  • Pragmatic problem solving
  • Ability to independently plan, organise and prioritise own time to achieve a high level of productivity
