We are looking for a multi-faceted Hardware Test Engineer to support testing activities related to RF and antenna characterisation, management of labs and test rigs.

You will work closely with our RF Design Engineers and will be involved in early prototypes through to verification and approvals with regulatory bodies.

You will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of technologies in multiple industries, from high volume short-range consumer wireless products, through to high-performance systems.

Working with product development teams, specifically around, but not limited to, RF Design, you will:

  • Write and execute test plans
  • Design test rigs and experiments
  • Create and deliver reports to stakeholders
  • Maintain and develop RF anechoic chambers
  • Coordinate calibration/maintenance of test equipment
  • Be proactive in engaging with developers during development/test cycles

What you can bring

  • Familiarity with electronic lab test equipment e.g. DSOs, DMMs and soldering iron
  • Broad understanding of electronics concepts
  • Experience with RF test equipment e.g. Spectrum Analysers, Vector Network Analysers, etc.
  • Familiarity with one of more of the following technologies

              - BT / BLE
              - LTE/UMTS/GSM
              - 5G
              - WiFi
              - Sat Comms

  • Practical experience in a product development environment

The following are not required, but any experience in these areas would be advantageous:

  • Experience in antenna test ranges
  • Knowledge of figures of merit of wireless systems
  • Ability to design or maintain automated test programs using Python, Labview, Matlab etc
  • Understanding of the testing required by the Radio Equipment Directive and EMC test procedures
  • Practical experience of building test systems and testing early stage prototypes and final products
  • Familiarity with RF test methods and standard RF blocks such as filters, splitters
