We have a unique opportunity for an exceptional experienced HR leader to join our HR team in Cambridge, UK. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer you will be responsible for leading the HR function across the whole business including offices in the UK, US and Asia.  This position is suited to an experienced HR leader with International experience who can shape HR strategy as well as take a hands-on role in the day to day operations of the HR function.

Role Description

The HR Director leads the HR Department across Cambridge Consultants global business with responsibility for the strategic and operational delivery of HR activities, ensuring that the department has the necessary capacity, capability, systems, and processes in place to provide a professional, effective, and responsive service.

In leading the HR team, you will balance providing the strategic direction for the HR function with hands-on operational involvement. You will demonstrate a flair for pragmatic and realistic solutions by using your breadth of experience across a diverse range of issues.

This is a UK based role in Cambridge. However, support to our offices in the US, Singapore and Tokyo will be required. 

 

Specific responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategy according to the business goals of the company
  • Play a key role in articulating, embedding, and monitoring the company’s vision, values and behaviours and overall shaping of organisational culture
  • Lead, manage and develop our HR, recruitment and learning and development teams, driving a high performance culture
  • Responsible for senior level decision making regarding people issues
  • Lead the execution of HR processes; including talent management, performance management, succession planning and rewards management
  • Develop an employee engagement framework which contributes to improved employee experience to ensure all employees feel valued, supported, involved, and engaged
  • Build internal communication between our global offices
  • Take ownership of all budgeting and forecasting processes across HR
  • Nurture a positive working environment and foster inclusion and diversity
  • Ensure that line managers are supported and trained to apply HR employment policies with consistency and equity
  • Take the lead role in the development and integration of HR policies and procedures
  • Implementation of a new HR system across the Company
  • Consistently act as a role model in respect of the Organisations values and hold both self and others to account
  • Actively look for opportunities to improve and implement positive change

 

Minimum Requirements

  • CIPD qualified (or equivalent)
  • Exceptional people leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate, develop and inspire people to deliver outstanding performance
  • Extensive experience of HR client facing or HR Business Partner roles working with leaders and stakeholders within a complex matrixed environment
  • Excellent understanding of UK Employment Law and its application
  • Experience of working in an International company with an understanding of US employment law
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong emotional intelligence
  • Ability to promote HR best practice throughout the organization, including at Board and senior level
  • Confident to challenge at all levels and navigate different opinions
  • Analytical mind – asks questions and able to identify critical detail quickly to support decision making
  • Enjoys continuous improvement and change, is comfortable with ambiguity, has a positive outlook
  • Experience of working in a busy and dynamic environment
  • Has been instrumental in developing talent and performance management programmes which allow organisations to retain and develop top talent
  • Solution oriented with a proven ability to successfully deliver in a complex environment
  • Collaborative stakeholder skills with the ability to establish and nurture relationships throughout the business at all levels
  • Highly developed influencing skills, able to listen and influence, persuade and challenge through weight of reasoning and gravitas rather than through a direct reporting line
  • High levels of resilience and energy, possessing the emotional resilience and energy to navigate through complex, constantly changing situations
