We’re looking for an enthusiastic Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Design Engineering group in the MedTech division with experience in design for manufacturing and volume production.

Role Description 

Our mechanical engineers are involved in a wide range of cutting-edge developments in the Medical Technology division. These range from purely mechanical to multi-disciplinary and we collaborate on these projects with brilliant colleagues who have wide and varied skill sets, like designers, physicists, scientists and other engineering disciplines.

You will join the Design Engineering Group within the MedTech division. The group excel in their roles as Mechanical Engineers whilst also being incredibly encouraging and supportive. We value a willingness to learn, improve and grow in everything we do. 

The role of Principal Mechanical Engineer will provide you with the opportunity to take a key role on projects, providing autonomous, high quality input to developments. This is likely to be across a range of activities, including concept development, system architecture and feasibility, through to scale up and industrialisation. Your experience and understanding of manufacturing will feed into your work and you’ll take responsibility for production of specifications, engineering analyses, reports, detailed designs, technical specifications and drawings.

You will be a hands-on contributor and it’s likely you’ll lead activities in an area of the development such as manufacturing or mechanical engineering, often across a multi-discipline project. You will be working in a fast-paced, collaborative and supportive environment, surrounded by people who want to deliver the very best for our clients. You will organise and prioritise your own work, and the work of others to meet deadlines. You’ll enjoy client contact and will be able to communicate brilliantly with a wide range of people and teams. Your proactivity and engagement will be present in each task you work on.

This role has great opportunity to progress in the direction that is most interesting to you, such as senior technical routes, project oversight and commercial paths.

What you can bring

  • An excellent degree in Mechanical Engineering or related subject, or, equivalent experience
  • Significant experience in and knowledge of design for high volume manufacturing and assembly
  • Highly proficient in 3D CAD systems, ideally SolidWorks or Creo
  • Proven track record working as part of a diverse team, understanding client requirements, and delivering solutions to meet those needs

The following would be advantageous:

  • Demonstratable evidence of leadership in multi-disciplinary projects within the area of mechanical engineering / manufacturing
  • Experience of working within a regulated environment, such as ISO13485
  • Experience of working within a consulting environment
