We are building our Digital Service Innovation team and are looking for people who have the skills to help our clients bring innovative digital services to market, and who are also looking to expand on their current skills and experience.

What we can offer

The digital services we co-create, develop and launch with our clients are often transformational. They are not obvious, and we need a team who can make sense where there is little framework or direction in place. It may mean resetting the direction and asking fundamental questions.

The services we design and develop are sometimes purely digital and sometimes include a physical element, making this is an opportunity to work across both.

This is an opportunity to work with a range of clients – the big and the small; from established multi-national to ambitious start-ups. Clients are disrupting different market sectors such as consumer, industrial and medical. Some have existing products and are looking for new ways to deliver their offering, and some have a new product, a new idea or a working service. They might have a limited understanding of the digital part and may need to solve a technological problem or be shown how to scale.

At Cambridge Consultants you will have a like-minded technology, engineering and science organisation behind you. People brimming with ideas and a hunger to solve problems. You need to know digital technologies and you will understand the trends – for example digital twins or Artificial Intelligence of Things, or the potential of 5G private networking. You have to keep moving with the technology trends.

What you can bring

We are looking for candidates who can bring innovative thinking, blending together commercial strategy, business models, creative service ideation and design. You are likely to be working alongside development teams as a product owner to guide the team through the technical delivery of the strategic ambition.

All of this is within exciting and fast-moving technologies where your ideas will push the limits of what has been done before. You will be well informed of new digital technologies and development techniques.

You must be inquisitive – to ask ‘why?’ and ‘how?’ To think about the experience and user needs and understand why one approach will probably work better than another.

Responsibilities

As well as delivering high quality project work for clients, as a Digital Service Innovation Consultant you will actively support the sale of new projects. Specific responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Support clients at all stages of service development – from commercial strategy, opportunity assessment, proposition ideation, road-mapping, prototyping, go-to-market planning, creative ideation to define valuable user experiences, operating model design, through to successful launch and scaling
  • Will be required to travel to client sites for workshops, meetings and presentations (subject to Covid-19 restrictions); however, most of your time will be spent working with the Cambridge Consultants team rather than at clients’ sites
  • Work with colleagues to define projects for potential clients and generate proposals
  • Maintain an understanding of and capability in the latest approaches in digital service design and development
  • Mentor others in the team to sustain a strong, collaborative working environment

Requirements

You will have experience delivering innovative digital service projects, bringing together commercial, creative ideation and product management skills. You will be knowledgeable about the latest digital technologies and be credible at a technical level, with the ability to work closely with experts across domains to deliver a complete solution.

Naturally you will be a good communicator in both written and spoken form, credible with senior executives and less experienced stakeholders alike; with those who are technically fluent and those with limited technical understanding. You will also have a strong academic background and a degree in a relevant subject.

The below would be advantageous:

  • Experience of developing services from value propositions through to full scale deployment, engaging across strategic, innovative and development dimensions
  • Experience in a consultancy, working with a broad range of clients and across sectors
  • Experience of using a range of tools and approaches used in digital service design
