We are looking for an experienced technical leader to join our Mechanical and Design engineering team within the Industrial, Consumer, and Energy division. You may be an accomplished engineer looking to broaden and expand your current skills and knowledge or be a more experienced engineer looking to apply your proven technical skills in new areas and markets.

You will have experience applying engineering skills to the solution of technical problems, preferably in a product or technology development setting. Ideally you would have a proven track record in the delivery and leadership of projects or systems in one or more of the following areas, with deep expertise and interest in one of them:

  • Fluidics and thermodynamics
  • Stress analysis and mechanics of materials
  • Robotics, mechatronics and automation
  • Mechanisms and motion control
  • Systems engineering
  • Process engineering

This will be a varied role, where you will be responsible for tasks such as client interaction, concept generation, project management, supervising the design and build mechanical function, testing, experimentation, and development of technical solutions. What you can bring

You will have a genuine passion for engineering, technology and product development alongside a strong academic background with a mechanical engineering related degree or equivalent. You will also have the ability to inspire, lead and support teams of engineers; be responsible for the mechanical provision on a wide variety of medium to large projects and be able to own and deliver technical solutions to complex problems. You will need a strong foundation in the fundamentals of mechanical engineering and a track record of successful project delivery.

In addition, we would like you to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in innovative and creative settings, with a focus on architecting solutions through novel thinking
  • Ability to understand technical information from other disciplines sufficiently to interpret their impact on overall and detailed component design
  • Ability to analyse both system and component level designs, by evaluating the output of theoretical methods, such as tolerance analysis, mechanism analysis, FEA, CFD, FMEA, etc.
  • Great communications skills – with both peers and clients
  • Appreciation for the basics of other branches of engineering (e.g. electronics, software, manufacturing, fluidics, optics etc).
