We’re on the lookout for a talented and ambitious Project Manager to join our Medical Technology Project Management team here in Cambridge.

The Medical Technology Division undertakes the development of innovative new medical devices and systems from concept, through prototype manufacture, to new product introduction, often surmounting considerable technical challenges. We undertake development projects across a whole spectrum of domains including surgical products and systems, diagnostic instrumentation and drug delivery devices.

We combine highly creative lateral thinking with excellent technical skills and broad industry experience to form powerful development teams. Our work ranges from complete product developments to providing consulting services for our clients on their technology, strategy or development processes.

What we can offer

We can offer you variety, autonomy and the chance to work in a dynamic environment buzzing with the excitement of innovation that is having a real effect on people’s lives. The medical technology division has grown by 250% in the last five years. We have an increasing, world-leading reputation for designing disruptive technology to revolutionise diagnosis and treatment. Our project management teams are working to help maintain momentum in our key areas of strength such as drug delivery, diagnostics, medical devices and digital health platforms.

You’ll work across a variety of technologies, markets and clients, and you’ll always have the support of experienced Programme Managers ready to guide you towards more complex projects as your career develops. We believe that a supportive environment is the way to bring the best out of each other. We will actively promote your progression and provide you with the opportunity to take on increasingly challenging tasks.

Your specific responsibilities will vary according to your expertise but are likely to include:

  • Support the business developers to define projects to meet the needs of prospective clients
  • Management of projects from proposal stage through to delivery of the project
  • Liaising directly with clients to understand their programme needs for a broad range of projects
  • Estimating timeline, resource, budget and key technical risks for proposal preparation
  • Building and managing the project team with the appropriate level of expertise for the proposed work, leading and motivating multi-disciplinary teams
  • Reporting technical and financial progress both to the client and internally
  • Lead meetings with clients, present and communicate ideas and concepts to all disciplines
  • Ensure that projects are run to relevant quality standards and meet appropriate safety standards

What you can bring

You will have a degree within an engineering or relevant scientific discipline, with experience of either project managing small to medium sizes projects, or of leading a technical discipline within a larger new product development project. Therefore, you will have experience of planning tasks, and tracking the progress of a team to deliver against those tasks, whilst addressing issue as they arise. Naturally you will also have strong time management and organisational skills.

You will bring energy and enthusiasm, as well as an eagerness to develop your project management skillset. You’ll have the freedom to assemble and lead teams of world-class multi-disciplinary teams made up of engineers, scientists and designers. To do so, this will require strong interpersonal and leadership abilities. Client exposure would be an advantage.
